Joy, Joy, Joy

This morning, I have been reflecting on the old saying: “Share your joys but keep your doubts to yourself.” What a powerful statement!

In a world so often saturated with negativity, whether it is on the news, social media, or even in casual conversations, we could all benefit from hearing more about the joys people experience; I know I could. Imagine how much brighter your day would be if you made it a habit to share your moments of happiness, blessings, and victories instead of amplifying doubts, fears, and complaints.

Now, that is not to say we should ignore our struggles. There is value in sharing burdens with those we trust and seeking support when needed! But when we dwell too much on doubts and uncertainties, especially in casual or public ways, those doubts and uncertainties can begin to take root, growing larger and more consuming.

By focusing on sharing our joys, we not only uplift ourselves but also create an atmosphere that inspires others to do the same! Sharing our joys is not just for us, it is for those around us!

Psalm 107:2 tells us: "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble." ESV

This verse is a call for those who have experienced God's redemption to openly proclaim it! It underscores the importance of giving testimony to God’s deliverance, encouraging others to recognize His faithfulness.

When God rescues someone from trouble, they are invited to share that experience to bring glory to Him and inspire faith in others; to trust in God’s power to save. God alone has the power to save, and His salvation brings blessing to His people. "Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people!" Psalm 3:8 ESV

When we talk about the good things happening in our lives, we remind others of the beauty and hope that still exist, even in difficult times. I think of that old song “this little light of mine…” Sharing your hope and joy is like lighting a candle in a dark room. One small flame can illuminate the space, and before long, others may feel inspired to light their own candles, too.

I have also realized that sharing joys does not have to be about grand accomplishments or extraordinary moments. It can be, and often is, as simple as acknowledging a kind word from a friend, a beautiful sunrise, or an unexpected blessing of snowfall. These small expressions of joy have a ripple effect. I hope they encourage you to look for and share the good in your own life as well. Choosing to magnify the good in a world that often focuses on the bad, will change the world; at the very least it will change your corner of the world!

I want to encourage you to see the beauty in your life and spread light wherever they go. Share your joys, it is more than a saying; it is a way of life.
