It Is Going to Be So Good

Yesterday morning, and for the past few mornings, everything was frozen with beautiful white frost. It was so heavy in places that it looked like it snowed. Driving through a parking lot on my way to work, I marveled at the diamond encrusted vehicles that had sat there overnight. And the parking lot…wow! It was gorgeous. Like a sea of sparkling jewels. The street lamps and my own headlights caused different colors and hues as the lights danced in the chill morning air and suddenly I thought, “Grandma on the sea of glass….weeeeeee!!!!”

One of the many audio recordings we had when I was growing up was “Grandma on Sea of Glass”. Now, I’m not sure if this was the only episode, but it is the only one I remember, it was when grandma arrives in heaven.

The man speaking begins to explain something like this: we are going to arrive in heaven and grandma would like her robe of light arranged in just a little different way. So, she thinks in her mind “gold, green, chartreuse…and bam simply by sending a thought to her robe of light it changes colors. Grandma even made it a paisley pattern. But the patterns move, and blink and swirl and grandma did it all with her mind.

Well eventually there we all are with our robes of light, just the way we like them, and we are approaching the airport in heaven. Grandma steps through the gates and gasps at the beauty. She squeals with delight at the splendor her eyes are trying to take in. And then she sees it; the Sea of Glass, spread out before her as far as the eye can perceive.

It looks like glass, but it is a sea that also looks like fire. Grandma gets excited. She backs up; hikes her robe of light up around her knees and takes off running as fast as she can. As she hits the Sea of Glass she begins to slide on her feet and yell, “weeeeeeeee!!!” as little sparkle dust shoots up from behind her feet.

I can only imagine how special and beautiful heaven and eternity will be. But I can only imagine. “…no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined,

what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV

Do you love Him? There is nothing more important than accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and inviting Him into your life; nothing! Jesus said, “…“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV

I often think of those days to come and my heart longs for that time when I will look out on the sea of glass and then turn to someone next to me and say, “we made it! We made it!”

“And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

“Great and amazing are your deeds,

    O Lord God the Almighty!

Just and true are your ways,

    O King of the nations!

Who will not fear, O Lord,

    and glorify your name?

For you alone are holy.

    All nations will come

    and worship you,

for your righteous acts have been revealed.” Revelation 15:2-4 ESV
